19th century horse bells. Hanging, these bells measure 11 inches long and 2 inches wide. Contains 6 brass bells {3 on each side} attached to a brass plate and hanging from a leather strap. The bells have worn to a beautiful patina. The buckle on the strap contains rust. All of the antique bells with leather straps show wear and are somewhat stiff due to age and may be fraying. I did add a little all natural leather conditioner to preserve the leather better…I would suggest that you add more if you would like the leather to be more pliable. The bells make a beautiful sound. This set of bells is very special and quite unique, as I have never found another one like it. There is a metal disk embossed with a horse at the top. I was told by the vendor that you would hold the bells with the disk flush atop your hand and shake the bells to ring them. Found in Provence. Free shipping.
